Arrow Considering Selling My 2004 XKR Portfolio Convertible For F-Type V6S Convertible ?

Hey guys Im am debating selling my 2004 XKR Portfolio Convertible With Only 22k Miles for a 2015 F Type V6S convertible with 21k Miles. I can get about 33k for my XKR and put another 3k with it to pick up the 2015 F-Type for 36k. I owned the XKR for about 8 years put only 7k miles on it bought it for about 20k back in 2016 added Adamesh exhaust which is phenominal. But ever since the F-Type came on the scene I always wanted an F-Type even though I love the XKR. Seen one in summer 2014 and the exhaust was outta this world. t I test drove the F-Type V6S Convertible back in 2016 and the exhaust the speed and responsiveness was on another level the car is just on go all the time its hard to explain. The XKR is a beast and a classic when I bought it I intended on keeping it but its hard to pass up an opportunity for an F-Type. I been driving XKRs X100 for almost 15+ years I owned several and the portfolio has been the last and my ultimate XKR. But the F-Type has been calling me for years telling me its time to move on but the XKR has been one of my favorite Jags of all time for the appeal, looks, and classic styling. I don't know what my decision is going to be but I may be moving on to the F-Type V6S Convertible soon its been a car that I really been wanting and given the fact that my XKR is almost 20 years old and I been driving in X100 XKRs for almost 15+ years it maybe time to elevate to F-Type. What you guys think ?

Do whatever you want to. As for me, if someone was willing to pay me $33,000 for a 2003 XKR, I would take the money and run....

My son got the F and like you it was the exhaust that sold him.
You are getting a great price on the F and if you can get that kind of money for the XK, like Jon, Jump on that deal.

The XKR does turn heads and is gorgeous but its something about the F-Type its hard to explain. The only thing is hard is that the XKR may become the next big e-type like collector car Jag in years to come then I probably regret selling it. This is difficult decision otherwise I might just keep XKR and purchase an F-Type V6s Convertible when prices come to around 20K for 14-15 models which maybe in the next 2-3 years.

No chance of the XK8/XKR ever getting anywhere close to the XKE collector stratosphere. That factor should never enter into your decision to keep it or sell it....

I would never say never XJS prices are creeping up and the XKR prices has been recently maybe not as high as E-Type prices but I think they will get well past the XJS prices and between E-Type prices easily.

Find a way to have both Obviously the exhaust thing sounds like a big thing for you but I am wondering what you mean. If it is the snap-crackle-pop that sounds like a bunch of firecrackers going off in a tin can that I hear on BMW M models and some of the F-types it frankly is a bit annoying and too much in the "look at me" vogue. But that's just me.

It's your money so it's your choice. But I wouldn't do it even if I could. TM

Money aside which is basically a wash by your calculations. These are two completely different cars, the f type is a sports car and the XKR is a grand tourer. Sooooo it just depends what driving experience you’re looking for and also the f type is smaller inside and out is that ok with you? I had the choice of buying an X100 or a newer X150 and in the end I went with the X100. Is the XK more technologically advanced? Sure it is. Is the X150 worth more money? Sure it is. I guess in the end it’s what girl do you want to take to the dance. I bought the car I liked the most with no regrets or second guessing myself.

However, as some have already said if you can get 33k for your xkr I would take it. Not saying you can’t get it but again I would take it if offered.

I think the f type is absolutely stunning and I loved it since the first time I saw one on the road. My nephew bought a 2017 coupe and while I was visiting him on a sunny winters day we put it through its paces. It’s a very Impressive car in many ways and the driving experience was very different in a good way. However, I did find the coupe a bit cramped and the ride does feel like you’re just whipping around at any speed. Honestly, I was over it at that point.

To each his own and good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Cheers!

Andrew

What he said! Shoreguy replied before I had a chance, but I agree completely with him. They are 2 very different cars though filling the same spot in the makers lines up at the time. I'm more for the "old school" (I use that term loosely) and love the style. The extra high performance isn't important to me. TM

So what did you decide? If you sold the 04 how much did you get for it?

Thanks
