Default Convertible top and interior professional color restoration

Took my top to a automotive interior shop, as the sun has faded its oem color and its ugly.

The technician has been doing tops for a while and suggested, I soft scrub the top with very hot water and simple green , then rinse 5 times, then allow to dry for several days to remove all dirts and mildew.

After this, he suggested 6 cans of camel color Camel Upholstery Spray Paint (SP413) - $11.50 : Colors for Upholstery & Auto Interiors

This is actually a dye,it has UV protection built into it and designed to withstand harsh weather elements for many years to come.
Enough talk, the results speak for themselves, this is just 2 light coats,it looks scary with the first coat, but after it dries your good, very absorbent .and strong, waterproof and uv protection.THE TRICK IS TO SHAKE THE CAN VERY WELL AND WORK VERY FAST, MASK OFF, THIS STUFF FLIES EVERYWHERE, BUT COMES OFF THE PAINT EASILY WITH BLACK MAGIC TIRE SHINE AND A SPONGE, THEN WASH THE CAR LOL TO GET THE BLACK MAGIC OFF.

I wonder if this is similar to the dupli color fabric/vinyl paint I used on my headliner. It sounds the same except its not water soluble. I've wanted to do the exterior as well but just not sure how it will scuff while opening and closing. Mine being black.

Default Covertible top and interior professional color restoration

I did my interior with that stuff, it don't have uv protection so you cant do it on the top.

Chek out how good it works, when you clean the panels and carpet, let dry then use the product, again, i used simple green, and took my time masking off that areas, and shacking the cans for 5 mins each with duplicolor.

Thanks, the hardest part was wearing a thick glove, using very hot water and simple green to scrub all the dirt, mold and mildew off the top.It also removes the water repellant as well.

All you have to do from there is LET THE TOP DRY FOR A WEEK mask off the rear window only, simply spray the contents in a bowl that you never plan to eat with agin, and use a SMALL paint brush to apply several coatingS, allowing EACH COAT TO DRY 24 HOURS.

DO NOT GO BY HOW THINGS LOOK WHEN THE COMPOUND HAS NOT DRIED IN A DAY, YOULL SIMPLY BE WASTING IT.

This agent absorbs INSTANTLY AND HAS ITS OWN OUTDOOR POWERFUL WATERPROOFED AGENT.

The interior took more time, due to using garbage bags and duck tape, however, I used simple green and very hot water to clean the door panels, carpet and dash. The applied DUPLICOLOR INTERIOR PAINT TO THE PANELS ONLY.

The carpet was vacuumed after scrubbing only-like a shampoo lol NO DYE OR PAINT ON CARPET.

If you don't want to dye it, replacement is your only option. You can't clean off fade.

Also, you're kinda in the wrong forum - this is the X100 crowd (up to 2006), but the answer still holds.

The previous owner of my car informed me that he had the seats professionally dyed. But added that the dye job, even though a professional application, could only be considered a temporary fix, as the dye wears off.

He was right. Slowly but surely the dye on the seat bottoms has disappeared. The seat backs are gradually following suit.
