Hello! I have a 2000 xkr that has been leaking coolant. I attached a pressure tester to it and found one place its leaking, I hope this is the only spot. The picture shows the connector and it is not adjustable. Im wondering what kind of hose clamp this is and if i can remove it and replace it with something that I can tighten. Why would these kind of clamps be used? Is this the type of thing that once they fail you have to replace them??? Thanks! Its the hose clamp in the center of the pic.
If these are the same ones that I have on my 2000 XK8 they have a weird connection between the two ends which is not adjustable. They are apparently designed that way to provide even circumference pressure and to prevent over tightening which could crack a plastic hose fitting. I've been able to take them on and off using a pair of needle-nose pliers. If I'm wrong (a reasonable possibility), I'm sure someone will chime in and give you the correct information.
Avoid URO hoses whenever possible. Over the years I have unfortunately installed several of them (before I knew any better) and they ALWAYS suffer from a leak somewhere, sometimes within just months of being installed...
Those "clamps" are neither adjustable, nor removable. It's meant to be a single continuous hose with branches. That lower radiator hose, especially if made by ÜRO, I would rather replace the entire thing instead of mending it. Knowing ÜRO, it will leak from another spot on the hose after you fix it.
Looks like a serious cut by the clamp in that hose. Remember, the hose has a "fabric" base for strength, coated with rubber. If this repair somehow fails, this will leave you stranded...
