Default Cruise control - RESOLVED

Does the cruise control hold on the speed selected or it would not allow driving faster than the speed set

On mine your select cruise control and it maintains what ever speed when it was set, but you accelerate to a higher speed, and if you take your foot off it will revert to the speed you previously set, unless you set cruise again, in which case it will maintain the set speed. Hitting the brake cancels cruise.

+1 with Mike. Fyi, you will lose active cc if you lose traction at all too (even as simple as driving one wheel over a grate while accelerating). There is a 3rd culprit besides pushing cc off button but I can't remember it.

Just some fun trivia.

John

Oh yeah, engine goes into restricted performance will disable cc.

On the 2005 you may have Automatic Speed Limiter (ASI). If you do, the cruise control will work as explained above just by using the buttons on the wheel. But if you push the button below the j gate and the red light comes on it will be in ASI mode. you then push the button on the wheel when the car is going at the speed you want to use as a limit and the car will not exceed that limit even if you floor the pedal. It will, however, slow down if you take your foot off the gas. Seems like a silly feature.

My xk8 will not hold the speed set, after turning on the cruise control bottom on center console and setting the speed on the steering wheel. Do someone has an idea whats wrong. Thanks

Firstly do you have any codes. Second did you have a notice on the screen saying cruise control disabled. Without some information really can't help you. The brake micro switches can be responsible, but then you get a warning on the dash.

Don’t suppose you have adaptive cruise control? This will reduce your speed from the set figure if you have a slower moving vehicle in front.

I know what you mean RJ. I questioned the logic behind it once. Then the guys from England explained. They have sneaky speed cameras all over the place. Apparently its invaluable because of that.

Leccpa,

1) is the cc button light on?
just wanted to verify

2) do you have adaptive cc?
If yes there is a separate fuse for it and for cc on off. might be this fuse?

Welcome to the forums ieccpa,

I've merged your two Cruise Control threads together. Please do NOT start multiple threads on the same topic. It's confusing, splits the discussion and is not the best way to get help.

Thanks, the problem was in the fuses, I replace both of them even though they look in good condition and everything is working perfectly. Thanks again
