Default Dangly bit

Can anyone help with this little blighter I found while working on the headlamps ?
You're looking forwards inside the wheel arch with the windscreen washer bottle on the left and the fog lamp on the right.
There's a fir tree fixing on it which isn't very clear.
Any ideas on the effete bit of aluminium tube in the background that rubs on the underside of the wiper fluid bottle then disappears towards the other side of the car?

Also - just behind the headlights is a long thin amber reflector/light mounted on the wing. Is it just a reflector or should it flash?
Edit - I think this is disabled on European models. I wonder if the dangly bit is supply to US cars?

Steve,

The one long oval one directly behind the headlamps on European models is a reflector only. The smaller one behind the front wheel and closest to the door is a flasher.

Steve,

Can't make out the piece in your photo. I haven't got a photo of the LH but attached is the RH:

Is it the equivalent of the aluminium pipe emerging from behind the the front of the inner wing and disappearing down behind the brake disc in this photo?

Al,

How strange. I've been out to check mine and it's just an amber reflector.

Yes, it also goes through a rubber bush bolted to the chassis

Steve,

Looks to be the feed and return pipes to the Oil Cooler as I think pipes to the AC Condenser are smaller diameter.

Thanks, couldn't believe it was some sort of torque rod!

It must be some sort of connector, it's got a geen and black wire going into it.
The 'reflector' on my car has a blind stub which looks like it would be a bulb housing in another life.
Presumably this is the connector for US models. I'll tape it out of the way.
