Default Dash / Headlight issue

Hi,
Apologies if this has been done, I've searched high and low but not found the specific answer. My dash clock illumination goes off when I turn the headlights on (side and full, and when it's dark on auto). I have no fuse terminal in fuse 18 on passenger (LH) side. I have changed the stalk but still having the same problem.

I've removed the dimmer control from the set of stalks I got. I'll try installing it tomorrow and see if it makes a difference. Will update. 👍

The dimmer control would be on the side of your steering column about quarter of the way down not on the stalk

Quick update, i tried both the original dimmer and the spare. Both with exactly the same results. The only part that alters brightness is the odometer. The speedo and rev counter still turn off when the lights are on. But this only happens when the key is turned. With no ignition power they seem to work as they should. I did try a replacement dimmer module (near the fuses) but that didn't seem to do anything either 🤯

Try this - the dimmer control has an 'extra' position when turned up - not sure how to describe it other than turn the dimmer fully up, then keep turning and it will 'click' into another position. See if that changes what happens.

Update, I have just tried both dimmer modules I have, exactly the same. It's like something is *** backwards because the dash lights up like it would on any normal car with the power off, but as soon as the key is turned the dash lamps go off. The only thing the dimmer changes is the odometer.

I've tried clicking it to max, it doesn't have any effect on the clocks, it only alters the brightness of the odometer/trip clock bit.

I've just tried it with the dimmer modules in and not plugged in, it seems to work the same regardless of whether they are in or not. So I'm trying a 3rd one, just bought it off ebay. Ffs.

Check F13 (10A) in the same side fascia fusebox.

edit: check both sides. UK 2003 drivers' handbook says driver side, but other fuses in the same box relate to passenger seat and door control modules

That's not going to help, and will just annoy you even more when you plug it in to no avail. I've got a spare as well if you want to try all the available ones in the UK before looking elsewhere?

A couple of questions - does this only affect the three dials in front of you, or also the centre console lighting? If it's only the three dials, does the centre console illumination respond to the dimmer?
Do you have the electical manual for the car? If not, go to JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource and download it, otherwise you're working blind.

We have a winner! There wasn't a fuse in fuse 13. Put a 10a in and it works!! Thank you very much.
