Dashboard squeak
XK8 Convertible 2004. Well I thought it was a dashboard squeak. It would come and go. I dismantled the dashboard, central console, removed vents, dismantled the doors, etc. just could not find. So I let it get worse. Eventually I tracked it down. It seemed to be coming from the LH front end. I opened the bonnet and had my wife push the LH front suspension up and down whilst I listened all around teh engine bay. Finally my ear picked up the sound coming from the top of the shock absorber strut. At the top of the strut there is a tiny hole. I squirted CRC in the hole and the squeak has gone. I could have sworn it was a dashboard squeak. But no! If you have a squeak check your struts.
The first time I heard it I chased the noise at the top of the windscreen convertible top latch area and then decided it must be the dashboard.
Finally found the top damper mounts worn/noisy.
Jaguar did address the wing stabilizer bars transferring squeaks to the firewall area.
