Does anybody know what this is?
Hey all,
This is located beside the vanity light on the drivers (left)side above the mirror. Funny but I never paid attention to it before. Does anybody know what this is?

Looks like aftermarket, right? Could have something to do with garage opening or some such sort of device. Could be some sort of sensor for radar or something like that. What happens when you take it down? There might be something on the back side to give you a clue.
yeah it kinda looks like aftermarket but the color is bang on so I wasn't sure
I tugged on it and it is stuck on pretty good and I figure it will wreck the liner if I pull it down
we'll see if curiosity gets the better of me
thanks

1998 XK8
interesting thought though because it only has two black wires
maybe I will dig into the vanity light area and see if there is a plug there with different color wires on the backside
thanks

Got a 2000 xk8, and it is the part of the original carphone equipement.
Do you also have the original jaguar clapper mobile phone and the phone commands on the steering wheel?

Thanks for all the reply's
I thought it might be a mic
Obviously no Bluetooth back then, although it was invented in 1994 but of course makes sense because you could use the phone through the stereo in hands free mode
I don't have the phone, just the cradle
The controls are on the steering wheel and radio
I would like to get an original handset someday just for the nostalgia
funny how the mic looks like a happy face in GGG's pic
that's a wrap
thanks again

I have 2 Motorola phones (circa 2002??) in my attic from when I worked at the dealer. They were in the trash so I 'rescued' them. They are still in the boxes with the booklets (I Think).
I would have to go in my attic to look for them. I powered one up years ago and the original owners call info was still on it. I did not remember how to delete so I just put it back in the box.
Let me know if you are interested in the DINOSAUR phone. I would just need shipping info and payment to destination. No charge for the phone kit itself but I don't think it will work on the network these days. It might be CDMA??? or maybe TDMA???
There should be a charger and some wiring?? I don't know if I have a cubby cradle but I think I still have a few 'shallow' cubby inserts for the armrest console.
I'll look if you are interested.

P.S. I used to install those microphones 'back-in-the-day' when customers wanted dealer options.
