Door keys
The Driver's door, Cubby, Boot lid and Ignition all have the same 'cut' but the VALET KEY has a different key tip that will not operate the boot lid or cubby locks.
All TIBBE 8 cut KEYS will LOCK the 'tumbler' set in the door but only the correct key will UNLOCK it.(don't know about 6 cut)
The boot lid lock is seldom used by most people and when you try to use the key after a few years of NON-USE it will not work. The lock gets 'jammed-up' with corrosion and debris so you need to lubricate and work the lock to free it.
I had to spend up to 10 minutes lubing and working the key in a customer boot lid lock before I got it freed.
USE the key in the door and boot lid a few times a year or cry when it gets stuck!!!!!!!!!!!

everything on these cars needs to be used frequently or issues associated with disuse will arise.
that includes all the electronics, sounds system, and nav system if so equipped.
i didn’t use my CD changer for months (years ?) and now I’m paying the price.

The cars came with Tibbe keys (the "round" key you're looking at). Look at the very tip of the key -- if it goes smoothly from the tip to the first cut on the side, that's a Valet key. If there is a tiny ":ledge" profile cut between the tip and the first big cut, that's a standard key.
Valet keys open doors and work the ignition lock, but they are NOT supposed to operate glovebox or trunk.
A few moments with an appropriate tool can put the profile onto a Valet key, converting it to the standard key.
