If you mean engine oil drain plugs, there is only one discussion. Throw it in the trash and install a Fumoto drain valve. That's all.
I have been using them on several cars for years and they make drain plugs obsolete.

These plugs. Found one on the ground under the car. One on each lower front corner. When I
pulled out the second one it looks like they are covering a threaded hole.

HI not sure but looks like the ones i had found under my car some time ago ,there were lots of round grommet things in the floor of the car ,cant remember how meany now , they were a mixture of metal and plastic and rotting out , i had them removed and the small holes plated over then the floor of the car waxed, never found out what them small holes with grommets were for , hope this helps.

I followed the trail to find the photo ........ and inserted it in your original post.

It looks like a push in blanking plug for a round hole in metal.

Car production lines left all sorts of weird bits and bobs, in cars, just for rapid handling in the manufacturing processes. Wouldn't be surprised if these holes were meant for that and the cheap plastic covering plugs would normally be covered up, in old cars, by underseal/waxoyl so we can't see the horrors underneath.

As a former weld inspector, paint expert, sometimes I believe ignorance is bliss, otherwise you'll have nightmares.

Looks like the plugs could be used as a wine/beer stop!

Those are blanking plugs for the TOW-EYE holes.

Bingo! We have a winner. The threaded holes are exactly where tow hooks would be mounted. Thanks

My preference is to upload directly from my PC. That way the image goes on the forum servers and stays there with the post. If an image is posted as a link to OnLine storage like Google then if the image location is moved, the image no longer appears in the thread. We have lots of broken links like that in forum posts.

Those plugs were part of the package in the boot for new cars. During PDI we fitted license plate mounts and removed the tow eyes.
One went into the tool kit under the spare wheel and the plugs were installed in the holes to prevent the ingress of dirt.

I fitted DOZENS. I think I still have a few in boxes of trim and fasteners somewhere.

Bob,

I recall the plugs on my 2005 Final Series XK8 4.2-S were threaded and not push fit. This was probably to help stop the threads rusting because the one time I needed to use a towing eye on my 2001 XK8, the thread on the vehicle was so rusted, the eye would only go in a couple of turns!

Wondering why it says Vehicle must not be driven with tow eye fitted to the front tow point?

I expect nothing more sinister than it protrudes beyond the front bumper and "could" cause injury to a pedestrian.

I looked this up and they seem to offer a range of valves for our cars. Which model do you recommend?
