Default Dropping window problem

Morning folks. Last night I took the old lady to the drive in and when she got into car the passenger window dropped all the way down. I raised it using the drivers side
switch pack and thought that probably the battery voltage was low. I put the car on the battery charger over night but it does the same thing this morning. Every thing
else works fine, passenger door locks with key fob, switch pack raises and lowers window, puddle light works, door open warnings work etc. I've looked around on the
forum but most threads deal with locking / warning issues. Does this sound like a module or micro switch issue. I've found the module and micro switch locations and
threads on how to replace them. Any idea would be much appreciated. Thanks.

First things first. Reset the windows by lowering them all the way and holding the button down until you hear a faint "click". Then raise the windows all the way by holding the button down until you hear a faint "click". Do that first and see if it resolves your problem....

Hi Jon, thanks for your reply. I tried the window reset procedure with the car off and running trying both window switch packs and it didn't resolve the problem.
The battery shows 12.6 V on the volt meter with the car off. The icarsoft obdII tool doesn't tell me any thing useful, just says no faults.

Sounding more and more like the infamous door latch assembly microswitch issue. But before you take the assembly out of the door and replace the microswitch, try spraying some silicone lubricant down into the assembly right through the multiple holes where the assembly is bolted to. That may temporarily fix your issue. Don't be stingy with the lubricant - spray that area liberally....

Thanks Jon. Tomorrow I'm going to buy some trim removal tools and some spray lube.
I'll post my results.

Oz,
I had a similar problem. First thought it might be battery, but Bat. SHowed 12.6 volts also. Later the Jag dealer checked and found battery was dropping voltage. Replaced battery, reset windows, now all is good???
You might check battery with load on it.

Thanks Sam, I'll check it out. The battery is 4 years old so I might be due for a new one especially since it went through it's first 6 month summer/winter cycle.

I gave it a good shot of spray lube, did the window reset procedure and it works again.
Thanks for your help.

Glad it worked for you, but keep in mind that this fix is temporary. Multiple intermittent treatments of silicone spray lube worked for my wife's 2006 XK8 from July 2018 until February 2019, but the issue was not permanently fixed until Wayne (cjd777) and I replaced the door latch assembly microswitch in April 2019. No more window or door lock incidents once we did that job....

No problems as such but wondered if there is any benefit in spraying some lube in the keyhole or not . Or wouldn't it help anything?

The best lube for the keyhole as well as the ignition key cylinder is powdered graphite....

I did this to the ignition as the latch didn't close properly and it would drain the battery

A battery can cause this problem and if that is the source of problem, charging the battery will be a temporary fix at best. I wouldn't invest more time/money than a new battery costs before replacing the battery.

Ya I think a new battery is in order.
