E-01 Error Code ALpine 6 Disc
The Alpine 6 Disc changer in my 2003 XK8 had malfunctioned early on in my custody. We removed it and the rack for repairs. Cleaned the surfaces, lubed the moving parts as suggested and reassembled. Worked OK for some time , but it began giving the E-01 code on screen again. We could used a screwdriver handle and bump the cartridge, then Eject and reinsert. It would play OK for awhile. Found a new magazine and hoped that would fix the problem. No, it would play 1 disc, then display E-01. The Alpine 6 disc changer was used in many upscale autos (5-6) ; at least, so Google had quite a few articles. Located one that had a solution to the problem we had. Take the Magazine from the changer unit and remove all the CD'S (6). Re insert the EMPTY Magazine back into the unit and turn the player unit ON CD. The first empty slot will read NO DISC, Go to the #2 disc and repeat. NO Disc. Repeat this total sequence through #3, #4, #5, #6. You have just completed a through reset on any memory in your machine or car. Once this was completed, the changer had not failed to play consecutive discs and no more failures. This corrective action was buried deep and only stumbled upon it by accident. Hope this help and it takes little time.
