ECM Reprogramming Services?
Hey I own a Jaguar XK8 2001 Coupé 4.0L (LHD)
I'm starting this thread to see whether anyone is aware of a service in the United States or possibly as an option the UK for reprogramming donor ecms so that I can plug and play for my car.
-Context
At the moment I lack the IDS proper materials to use it on my vehicle and much rather send my donor ECM that I know is working for programming to use in my vehicle. My ECM (original) has a short that I could not locate and was unable to find a circuit diagram of the ECM for the Jaguar XK8 and a Jaguar dealer is no help.
Reverse engineering is not an option as it's my only working coded ECM for the car. And yes it's confirmed (another thread) that the ECM is the issue, and after dismantling I tested circuits to find it is a short but unable to find where it affects the h02 circuit.

As the two modules have identical VCATS numbers there is nothing else to configure, other than immobiliser setup. I can't see how you can do that with the ECM out of the car, rather than in the car connected to the SLM as the two must have to swap some ID data.
Is there any reason you don't want to go the IDS route at the moment, other than it's a PITA?

The North American 1997 XK8 is the ONLY ECM that I think will swap with just a same VCATS.
No RFID or key transponder for that car in the U.S.
1998 was the first year here to have the RFID.
All other 4.0 Jaguar XKs need an IMMOBILIZATION SETUP.
The ECM needs to be connected to the car's CAN bus as dibbit states.
The AJ26 and AJ27 ECMs are different.

Well as I said before, if you haven’t already then replace all the capacitors in your original ecu. There is a total of seven, in four different capacities (sizes). There are several eBay listings for rebuild services, all ranging in price. But there is also enough info on other sites to help you do it yourself, if you have some decent soldering skills and equipment. I literally did all the research and ended up sourcing all the parts needed to do the repair myself, with ordering enough parts to do it twice just in case, for about 35 bucks. If it’s something out of your league, and trying replacement ecu units doesn’t work, pm me and maybe I could do it for you for cost of parts, and shipping unit to me and back. I believe I would already have the pcb parts needed, and solder removal and replacement stuff needed, as well as knowledge of doing it already. Obviously I can’t give any warranty or guarantee that it’ll work, as I am no expert, but it worked for me, so may be worth a shot. The eBay guys are all like 700-1500, so you would be saving a bundle. I’d be willing to give it a shot, just let me know. Just trying to extend an olive branch to another member as I have received in other ways here by others. Cheers

How did you program the used one i have a 97 and got a spare unit as well, it is the same number but I need to change program in it as the spare came off an xkr, mine is normally aspirated. It is the LJA1410AH unit mine is also a LJA1410AH when I plug the spare in I get an intercooler ecm error so I need to have it programed for my car. Any thoughts on getting this done
