Default Engine cover

I have a 2003 XK8 4.2 with one engine cover screw missing. It is a quarter turn camlock style and I haven't had any luck finding one. None of the usual part suppliers list it Found a couple of E-bay listings but both were for the entire cover assembly. I can't see spending that kind of money to get one screw! Any one out there know of a source?

maybe take the cover off and go to Advance or Autozone and see what they have, or if you have an indie that may have a stash of them. Also try a marina or boat shop

Have you tried a local hardware supply store? You may find something close enough. That is what I did for my 2013 Outback 3.6R engine dust cover bolts when I converted them to wingnuts a few years ago....

Default Engine Cover Bolt Replacements

I found the perfect replacement for anyone missing an engine cover screw or two.

amavoler Theft Deterrent...
Amazon Amazon

These are used to secure a saddle bag on to a motorcycle, but the size is perfect for our use. All you have to do is slide off the hardware on the mounts with a flat head screwdriver and slide on the new mounts in their place. The thumb screws fit in the existing cover holes and secure tightly.
Original mount clip on the right. New mount clip on the left.

New mount clips slides in perfectly.

I’ve only had my kitty for a few weeks, so my excitement is probably more than others. Just glad I’m contributing to this forum.

Try a Google Search for them under (jaguar xk8 engine cover fasteners) Several vendors have them . I used vendor Clips and Fasteners.
