Default Engine Mount Bolts Missing Both

Hi All,
I have been searching for some info on the bolt that is used through the under side of car to the bottom of the engine mount. Stumped

If someone could advise of what to buy I would be happy to do whatever I can to repay you.

Background story if you care to read.
Just bought a loved but not always received the best of care 97 XK8 convertible. Great price on a car that needed work, but I couldn't resist as I have always thought these were one of the sexiest cars ever built. You gotta love those curves. Brought it home on the trailer due to some power steering leaks and immediate found a WOW when getting under the car. Seems as a possible wrenching issue from when the transmission replacement was done a about a year ago, maybe they had them out to help get things lined back up who knows. Both bolts are gone however you can see the difference in the oxidation where bolt was there nice a shiny about the size of a quarter. I have spent at least 6 hours searching the net and could only find a listing of Jag part with no description of size or metal type. One picture showed it to be about 1 3/4 long, if I found the right one.

Other soon to tackle items that I have seen some good posts about are:

Will be doing a rebuild of front suspension as both upper and lower ball joints and tie rod ends have rubber cuts on boots. Will be testing all the bushing that are probably over due to age and mileage. Saw some other than aftermarket oem style parts mentioned feedback on those appreciated.

First step on this one is get the high pressure hose swapped on power steering so I am fire safe as it sprayed when a little fluid was added to empty reservoir and test for any other leaks or need for full rebuild of rack and pump.

Any good info on parts I should consider for these two jobs would also be appreciated. Got a saved link to great article is always winner.

Welcome!

If you mean the bolt that retains the hydraulic engine mount, the part number is JFS11035E and it is listed as a flange head screw.

It is such an inexpensive dealer item (about $1.50) that why bother researching a replacement?

Here it is: http://www.terrysjag.com/product/JFS11035E.html

Default Yes I think that is it.

Thanks for the reply.

I am totally with you and would have made the trip to buy them if available locally just to be sure I had the correct bolts.

I called our local Jaguar parts department no stock he said, I thought they probably just source by regular box of bolts in the shop or he was late for his second cup of coffee and wanted off the phone. Was hoping to pick some up quickly as I don't really want to even start it again after seeing them both missing. Probably what caused power steering hose leak in the first place.

If someone knows what type of metal and thread I am sure I can find some around town.

Will try my local Jag dealer with part number to see if I get any better results.

Well even with the part number it was a no stock at the dealer. I found a post calling for using a 13 mm wrench so I am guessing M8 with about 1 1/2 inch of standard thread based on image found showing bolt next to tape measure. Off to Fastenal to see if they stock it. I am guessing SS bolt with lock some blue locktite and light torque. All that aluminum it would have to be a low torque. Educated guess is best I can do at this point.
Thanks for the comments so far and I will be sure to post my final findings

May I suggest you go to this link, also at the top of the forum in the stickys, and download the JTIS manual for your year car.

This will list all assembly procedures, torque specs, wiring, etc.

HI Jandreu,
I did have the JTIS loaded and was not finding torque with search until I used a general search starting with engine. The page that comes up looks like a good one to print and keep in the car. It has front engine mount at 60-80 nm or about 45-60 lbs, higher than I would have guessed from looking at pictures of the engine mount. Maybe they embedded steel in what looks like an all aluminum bottom, would make sense. I think I will go with the lighter end of the scale being that as long as it is tight and locktite should be good.

When I did my first under car inspection both looked like this.

Now like this the way it should look.

Final verdict is in. M10 1.50 so they must put a small head on it for it to have been a 13 mm. I used a 40mm long and liberal coating of anti-seize since all aluminum and my bolt was hardened steel. I will keep an eye on it to see they stay tight. Will be easy to keep up with since I have a feeling I will be seeing more of this view for the near future.
Maybe it was a previous mechanical adjustment of bolts that was to fault, however I would suggest you take a look at yours next time you are under the car. I didn't see any signs of locktite in the threads so it that is the way they were put together then it is possible that they simply loosened and feel out. I will say the threads both looked equally clean so I suspect they were taken out recently and incorrectly torqued on the way back. On to the fun stuff...Lots to do when you bring one home on trailer.
