Default Engine warm in Park, won't rev past 3k?

Just making sure this isn't an issue. I decided to crank up Kate this evening (I've had her on a battery tender lately- no window issues anymore!) and warm her up. Gave her a few revs and noticed she didn't want to go past 3k RPM. Wasn't trying to floor it, but it appeared that was a ceiling. The engine didn't want to cough or stall, it seemed more like it was veto'ing all input beyond that range while in Park.

I still haven't had the time to change out my under-SC heater hoses yet so I didn't take her for a drive to see anything further. Is this normal? Hoping to get around to this next month. Been busy with a winter project lately...

I think it is limited to 3k electronically while in park.

Sure seems that way, thanks.

P.s. I'm still alive. Hibernating.

Yes, engine speed is limited when not in gear.

That must only apply to the XKR, right?

I haven't observed this in the XK8.

Why would want to rev an engine that high anyway?

If the car is in storage, let it rest undisturbed. If you must start the engine, take it out for a good long drive to warm everything up.

My 2003 XK8 is rev limited when not in gear. Maybe previous MY's are not, but I would expect they all would be the same.
