I just wanted to let everyone know that the inexpensive Ford Keyfobs work on our cars. I typed the fcc number on eBay was looking for a replacement and the Ford set came up super cheap so I tried them and they work.

I hate the way the dangling alarm remote jams between my knee and the dashboard of my 2000 XK8. I always need to make sure to push it out of the way, otherwise it impairs my braking.
Did anyone find a key with a built-in remote in the head of the key, that would fit the early XK8 series?

There was a thread not long ago that described modifying the old key using a later model flooding key fob, and introducing the old key into the later fob. It required the removal of the transponder from the old key, thereby destroying it, but if done properly you end up with a folding key fob.

I thought they would after scrutinizing my mother-in-law's Grand Marquis fob,and you may be able to swap the guts into the Jag fob to keep the growler. Haven't tried it yet though.

The rubber buttons will fit the Jag fob, I bought one of these as my buttons were wearing thin.
After some sleuthing, here is the likely SLM cutover VIN. The later SLM goes for about $150 USD on eBay. The earlier ones are about half that.
So if you have an earlier SLM, you could spend $150 on an SLM so you can use a pair of $8 Fobs.
