Default Fuel Tank Reserve

Is the fuel tank reserve inlet located under the rear bumper roughly 5" in from the right exhaust pipe? Just noticed mine is open (no bolt). Is this dangerous? It's completely dry, no smell of gas. I've driven almost 1k miles since buying the car. Headed to the hardware store today.

Are you looking at the rear 'tow-eye' bolt hole?

Problem solved. Hopefully I'll never need it but should probably replace. Thanks

just don’t be towing without the (eye) bolt in place. The fumes will build up.

PS/ CA Jag, all in good fun. No offense intended.

Mine is equipped with 3 of these plastic plugs which appear to be OEM in lieu of towing eyes.

It’s such a small opening. Horizontal too. How can I put any gas in? An eye dropper?

zray: no offense taken

The tow eye itself is usually packed away with the wheel change accessories in the boot/trunk to be inserted where and when required.

Here is a link out of the archives where Bob told what he did with them. I was fortunate that he could provide me with a tow hook back around that time.

I used to save all the extras and give them to tow truck drivers so they would not have to tear the boot apart looking for the tow eyes.

The rest I sold on eBay and to forum members.

I still have one in each of MY personal cars.
