Default G-force chip

Howdy from So. Oregon, I'm considering a g-force chip on my 2000 XK8, does anyone have any advice or comments?

Welcome to the forum magnum454,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to XK8/XKR forum. Members here with the same model will be able to offer advice.

When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see.

In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Welcome to the forum. Every couple of months some one asks about the chips. So far there have not been any reports of a measurable improvement in performance or economy.

It the chip or programmer was developed for the specific vehicle then there would be some chance of perhaps modest improvement (such was the case with my last vehicle and a Hypertech programmer). But a generic one-size-fits-all chip like the G-Force that basically is advertised for any vehicle is snake oil. The car might be a bit faster only due to the reduction in weight from your wallet.

If there was a cheap and easy shortcut to increased performance, the manufacturers would be the first to adopt it. It would do wonders for their bottom line.
