Sklimii,
You beat me to it. I remembered Steve having that post in 2013, as I had concerns of someday replacing mine. (My wife and I had retopped my 1966 Skylark back around 1999)
I think that there is not much info on actual top replacement due to members that are prolonging their top (hood) life by using 303 Hi Tech Fabric Treatment or similar. Another 12 years has past now, and my top still looks great. My last treatment was 4 1/2 years ago, but I plan to retreat when the weather gets warm enough to be effective.
If or when I replace mine, I still plan to heed Steve's (WhiteXKR) advice.
I have not seen much about replacing x100 convertible tops, especially DIY since they seem very tightly fitted. They seem to be very high quality and last extremely well. Although most are prone to some abrasion/fold marks on the fabric equivalent of the C pillars this doesn’t seem to progress beyond a mild cosmetic issue. I also suspect they subtly switched to fabric at some point because tops from the first few years don’t seem to get these wear marks as easily or as prominently as the later cars.
What’s wrong with your top?
You may find more info about replacing the top headliner than the whole top. (Which I personally would focus on cleaning multiple times rather than replacing) I did find 1 youtube video that may interest you about installing the old rear window into a new X100 top.
Our German-made convertible tops are indeed high quality. With proper care they may last 30 years or more. Some of them have already outlasted the cars they were installed on....

Our X100 tops really are a pleasure; quiet, thick, impressive, and long-lasting.

Apart from a few scuffs, the issue is mildew stains. I've tried multiple specialist cleaning products over the years, but can't get rid of them. I tried a sail cleaner last week but it made no difference.
I had a similar issue where a previous owner had overdone it removing mildew. The Renovo products - Cleaner and Reviver - have gone a long way to restoring the roof to where it should be and I reckon that a second go at it will finish the job off.
