Headlight Power Washer

Headlight Power Washer
Had issue with front offside headlight power washer in as much as it began to leak washer fluid. I obtained a replacement from my local Jaguar dealer (part no. LJA7050AF) and fitted it correctly.........however, when fitted I found that the front chrome end piece was not flush with the headlight by around 6-7mm. Has anyone had this problem?

Doug,
1. Make sure the spring loaded stem is fully recessed back into the power washer unit as far as it goes.
2. The Triangular plastic, on the power washer unit fits into a slot which is cast as part of the underside/base of the head light unit. It's troublesome to get it to catch into place and in my case, I needed to "shave" the sides of the plastic triangular bits to help fit up. Worth a try in your case.

Thanks David. Yes the spring loaded stem is fully retracted and the triangular plastic is fully home, so the only option, unless someone knows better, is to return it to my franchise dealer and get them to take it out, compare it to the original one then if it is the same size to re-install it. That way the onus is on them to get it right. I was sure I installed it correctly, as I heard it clip into position when sliding it into position under the headlight. Obviously this will no doubt cost me a packet, but I can't live with it protuding as it does. Thanks again for your suggestions.

Problem has been identified. After thinking the headlight power washer was slot in place, when re inserting the headlight, the power washer must have caught on the bodywork and dislodged so that it came forward in its slide slots and caused the unit to protrude by 6-7mm. Grange Motors (Jaguar franchise dealers) of Brentwood have agree to refit it for £99. To be honest it was such a faff when I did it, for £99 I’m pleased for them to do it for me. That way, it saves me the time & effort - although being in covid lockdown, have had plenty of both! but it will be worth it! If I did it, there is no guarantee that the same thing would happen to me again, if I did it.

Sorry to be so late to contribute, but I just ran across this thread and thought this info would be helpful to future readers. The reason the cover of a new headlamp washer jet will not fully retract is that the jets are shipped with a white plastic C-shaped restraining collar that prevents the moving nozzle shaft from fully retracting. I do not know the purpose of this collar, but perhaps it protects the internal valve from damage during shipment.
The white collar must be removed prior to installation of the jet. Here are a couple of photos showing the jet in situ on the underside of the headlamp assembly. You can also see this collar in the photo of the new jet in Doug's first post.
With the collar installed, the jet cover at the top of the image protrudes beyond the headlamp lens:
With the collar removed, the jet cover retracts fully:
As far as I know, this information does not appear in the Workshop Manual or any other Jaguar documentation. Jaguar expects us to discover it for ourselves.
Cheers,
Don
