Glad you got it off the old tried and true way (without breaking anything else ).
I use the CRC brand of “Freeze-Off”. It works where heat fails. I use it in many situations, most recently to remove the brake rotors from my 2002 XKR.
it must be used liberally, and in a well ventilated space , or preferably outdoors. The fumes will melt your liver and brains.
What radiator are you going to replace it with? Please tell me it's not the Nissens.
^^^^ Truth ^^^^^^
with only this forum as a trusted source of information the XK8’s appear to be tolerant of the Nissen radiator without having too much trouble with overheating.
from personal experience, which concurs with what the forum tells me, the XKR’s make just enough additional heat to be less tolerant of the Nissen’s less than adequate cooling capacity. Even in moderate temperatures my 2002 XKR runs 15 degrees F hotter with the Nissen radiator than it did with a 20 year old stock radiator.
i dread the advent of 110-120 F summer which is almost here. I foresee a good used Jaguar radiator in my cars near future.
it’s a shame that Nissen didn’t spend an extra dollar and match the fin count / quality of the stock
radiator.
4 year old used aluminum vanquish/db9 radiator is on ebay right now. less than 500 shipped
Looks very similar and I know the Jags ang AMs share many items. Can't find anything on web that exact fit. Cites that sell them new don't list compatible. Check out my radiator horror story I'll be positing in a little while.

Consider Radtec's all aluminum radiator for the X100 if money is no object.
