Talking Here's a recurring ABS odd one...

Since the ABS has no adverse affect on driving I've never bothered to lose sleep over it. Irritating light, sure, but I got use to it.

Anyway, it seems that when it's freezing butt cold outside, the ABS light stays off until it warms up to around 35 degrees. Under that temp, the ABS light is off. What's up with that?

Read the codes and see which went away / stayed. Guessing would be a waste of time.

Basics. Metal expands when its hot and contracts when its cold. So if the reluctor ring has dirt or rust on it it gets closer to the sensor when the wheel gets hotter.

So get out there and wire brush that reluctor ring!

Since temperature affects it, it is possibly the solder joints in the ABS Module. Try the cleaning on the reluctors and the sensors first then tackle opening the module and re-soldering.

I've already cleaned the wheel sensors, but like I said, no adverse effects, so I roll on....

Going to be hard to diagnose without reading codes, otherwise its just a guessing game.

The link harnesses for speeds sensors tend to cause issues as well, they get stretched over time.
C1095 is a common code - this will be in relation to solder points inside the module, which can be fixed without replacing.

Best to get those codes checked and report back what you find...

Intermittend ABS/Trac warning lights are often an indication of a non perfect battery. Cars that are not often driven(like mine) have the issue. I used to change the battery every year to get rid off the anoying indication.
Lately I put it on a Ctek charger. When driving time is there the first few weeks the message shows but afterwards does not appear anymore the whole season.

Some clues to, I hope, help sort out a cause:

- if the light comes on before the car starts to move, that can't be dirty sensors. Trouble could be a bad sensor, bad sensor wiring, or in the module.

- If turning the steering wheel lock to lock causes the light to come on, that suggests wiring ... intermittent connection to one of the front sensors. Pretty common; easy fix.

- The temperature effect ... beats me, I guess any fault could be temperature-dependent. I think it unlikely it's a bad sensor though in light of this behavior.

After the replacement of the battery or the removal of the charger the first weeks the error message will appear, afterwards the message will disappear again depending on the frequency of the use. The more often you use it the faster the error will disappear again.

An intelligent way of looking at it.
