Hood not latched
hood - being convertible top - make sure if the top is down that the latch at top of windshield has dropped back into the opening. If top is up - cycle through and make sure it completely latches
Just checked if the hood (covers engine compartment) is open it says "Hood Open". Boy that's confusing isn't it? So, Hood Open and Hood not Latched are 2 completely different things!

I ran into the same problem a few weeks ago.. mine was in reference to the convertible top. I was trying to figure out how to raise the top again with the error code and I was going crazy trying to figure it out..
Turns out it was the switch/sensor just above the rear view mirror where the hook pops out to grab the 'top'. Anyway there's a lever in there.. maybe moisture or something got in there but I used a pen and pushed it up and down a few times and it's been working fine since. I think car washes/freezing temps might allow water in there..
(hope that helps.. now if you're talking about the engine 'hood' as us Americans say.. well yeah not sure about that..)

Vern you must have UK English selected. Not sure if you were trying to correct me or not. No worries I didn't take it wrong. For sure it says hood open with mine so I figured the word latched is used when they mean the roof, but then I'm not tempting fate to see what mine would say if I stop the roof just b4 latching
