Good Morning, Im new Jag owner and im excited to be on these forums.
Purchased 2006 XKR Victory Edition with 100K miles. Car is in great shape for mileage and was owner maintained.
I know the oil was changed regularly the pump hoses for the top were upgraded and supercharged fluid was changed other then these items I don't know.
Car runs great with your normal squeaks and rattles which I think I can contribute a lot to the front end. I have notice a slight slip when driving from a stop when cold but nothing alarming its only happened a couple times.
I started researching the forums and got a tad bit lost so I figured this might be easier to ask the questions.
  • I need to change the upper shock mounts so my questions is what else should I change since im already into it? should I stick to a certain brand?
  • Should I flush the tranny fluid?
  • Last what else should I check, change or replace?
Im a "do it yourself guy" and Im excited to get after it! this is not my daily but a weekend hobby car that Im super excited to own and drive!

thank you

To further clarify, Wayne has been making custom front upper shock mounts for our XK8s and XKRs for more than a year now. They are far more robust and durable than anything you will find from any parts seller. You remove your front bell housing cores, ship them to Wayne here in North Carolina, he fabricates your new set of shock mounts depending upon the style of bell housing your car has, and he then ships them back to you. His turnaround time is usually just a few days. Everyone who has installed his custom-made shock mounts thus far has been extremely happy with them....

Check the lower shock bushings, both front and rear, upper & lower control arm bushings and sway bar bushes & drop links, front and rear.

Unless it's been done in the last 10-20K, then yes, filter and fluid change. Consensus is to drain & refill, not flush.

Check anything rubber in the cooling system.
It's a good idea to change all the fluids to set a baseline.

I appreciate that's quite a shopping list, but if the top hoses and supercharger oil have already been addressed you may well find many of the other common problems have been too.

Lovely car. Enjoy

As a long-time owner of a '06 myself (with 113k on it) I though the Victory Edition had red pin-stripping as part of the Victory Edition trim.....??

Nope, no pin striping from the factory on the Victory Edition models. Any pin striping would have been added afterwards....

New Owner!

That's a Beautiful XKR Convertible...I like the Color! I also noticed that it has the "R" Performance Package! The little "R" on each Front Fender! Before you change-out any of the Suspension Parts, you should first check with the previous Owner or with Jaguar and make sure it has the "R" Package Suspension! If so, then you will know some of the Front-end Parts are different than regular Jaguar Parts and should be replaced only with "R" Performance Suspension Parts....It cost extra when New and very few Convertibles have it! Check it out to make sure! (Notice the stance...The Front is a little lower than the Rear)
