Default Interior color for dash

My 1999 XK8 convertible has an interior color code of NED (ivory) and I need to replace the glove box lid after the opening mechanism broke (19-year-old ABS parts are testaments for steel). But all the information on the glove box (parts-diagram pdf and stores) says ivory isn’t correct for the glove box prior to ‘01, and that the part I need is in oatmeal. Anyone else run into this mismatch? Don’t want to spend $400 for the wrong color. Part is GJA6022AFNED for ivory, FAGD for oatmeal.

Any way to repair the broken lid assembly? I would pursue that option. $400 for a new glove box lid is insane....

No, it's not doable. I could glue the plastic, but the assembly is put together before it goes into the lid, and then permanently attached with rivets, so you would have to glue the part already in place then somehow put spring pressure back on it. My experience with trying to fix that ABS with epoxy has not been good. Fortunately, Jagbits had one for $200.

That’s really helpful, but my car appears to be a one-off, in that the trim choices for a ‘99 convertible
don’t include sapphire/ivory/blue hood. I guess the hood might be a replacement (there must have been a problem at some point, as the front seat covers and console were redone in cream leatherette).

I wonder if there is some confusion between model-year and year of manufacture (could be a year earlier). Are you sure yours is a 1999 model year, and are you sure the advertised part is for the 1999 model year?
