Default J-Gate Cover

Been looking for months. Anyone know where to get one of these without buying the entire module? Used is might be OK if not too many scratches. Mine is cracked at the bottom like many others. Maybe a 3D printer job?

Several members here have purchased and installed an aftermarket metal J-gate cover. From the photos they have posted, it looks quite nice. Perhaps someone who has done so will chime in here and tell you where to order one. That would permanently solve the cracking issue....

The seller (and the guy that fabricates them) is solar_signa

He doesn't have any listed at the moment, but if you message him asking for the 6-speed model he will gladly put one up for sale. Usually he waits until he has made a batch of about 10 or 15 before listing them on ebay. He is based in Canada. The cover itself is made of polished aluminum. At some point a few years ago he told me he was considering making a few black by anodizing them. Perhaps, if you ask him about it, he could do that for you if you wish to have the plate look more stock.

Here's his page: https://www.ebay.com/usr/solar_signa...88.m1543.l2754

I've bought two of them from him, both a 5 speed and a 6 speed and have had them installed on my cars and love them. They are a great piece of kit. Here is my current plate, please forgive that I hadn't cleaned the interior when I took this picture:

Didn't like the shiny look. Took to a local graphic artist and he made it look more like the original.

The other day I was driving my car on a sunny afternoon. I looked down at a stop light and the glare coming off the
shiny shifter bezel was pretty intense. I will leave it that way but am definitely looking for a black J-Gate.

I have the whole assembly I ordered from England didn't need it. If you want to buy it I didn't pay much for it.

I got tired of looking at the cracks in mine so I found a cover that fit well enough. Was about 5 bucks from china.

Until I buy a replacement I am going to use this. After 60K miles in the driver seat I don't need the indicators to know what gear I am in anyway.

The stuff underneath is pretty broken up so I think I will need to buy the whole assembly which was about $500 for new the last time I checked.

Not sure this is a "fits all" solution because I am using an aftermarket billet bezel that had room for the material.

Does Florida have annual safety inspections? I would not trust the local inspectors to move my vehicle with that shifter boot covering up the gearshift indicators....

I have a used billet one if anyone wants it (6speed —basically cover shipping).

As for 3D printing, it’s possible but getting the curve correct would be a pain and make it a difficult print.
