Default Largest rear wheel and tire combination

Guys,
I am currently running black powder coated Astroid wheels on my black/black 98 vert. I want to stuff the widest wheels and tires I can on the rear. The Astroids are from my old XJR and are 8 inches wide. I can have the wheels widened to virtually any dimensions I request including offset/back spacing.I know this has probably been queried before but I would welcome any feedback. Thanks guys

I currently have 20" detroit alloys which are 11" wide :-)
They were on it when I bought it and it looks sweet!
Greg.

I think you may be able to fit up 12.5". However, on a rwd car, traction may become an issue, especially if you car does not have a limited slip differential. Even then, your tires will cost a fortune. But, it will look super cool.

I thought all 'performance' rims (detroit, paris, speang, etc) are all front 9J and rear 10J. How can be detroits 11J?

You're correct, they're 10" not 11"

The tuning company Arden uses their 11" wide wheels on the rears.

Well wheel widths are measured on the inside of the lips, where the tire bead seats. This is the size that's stamped on the back of wheels. If you measure the outside lips then you'll get about and inch wider.

I put 295/30R20 on mine but they don't look right on the rims so I'm going back to 285/30R20 but hopefully better tyres than the Pirelli's (Dunlop SportMaxx RT).

I'm running 245/35 ZR 20s in front and 285/30 ZR 20s in the back, getting these to fit pretty much required a shoe horn. I might be able to go a little wider in front but back is pretty much at the limit without hitting the lip or flaring the wheel well.

Am using 295/35/20, which is not only wider but also larger in diameter. Pending on how much you have lowered your car, this is already the limit and had to already bend the inner fender lip.

AVOS, what kind of rim (and offset) do you use? Do you have spacers?

Its that standard 20" Montreal wheel, and no spacers, which wouldn't work as you then would hit the inner fender lip.

Thanks for all the input. It appears the consensus is that the max wheel width that will fit is 10 inches
Thanks again

Well, user Frog uses (?) 15mm rear spacers with 20" rims and he has no interaction with rear fender:

As far as I know each of 20" BBS has the same offset: 25 (10J) rear and 30 (9J) front.

Right. Your 295's protrude 5mm, so you could use 10 mm rear spacers.

I have 295/35, not 30, so they are no only wider but also larger in diameter.
