Default Looking to purchase 4.2 XKR engine in USA

I am now seeking to purchase a complete 4.2 liter XKR engine in the USA, 2003-2006. This is for use in my 2000 XKR that is ready for an engine swap and installation of the twin-screw supercharger kit that AVos has sent to me. =)

Looking for low miles (60,000 miles or less). Good condition. I do not need the supercharger or throttle body.

I am not going to build up a custom motor at this time. I am seeking a complete engine.

Feel free to contact me directly if you have an available unit at: monsoon (at) comcast (dot) net

Thanks for the bandwidth.

Hi Jeff,
I am in
Phoenix and thinking of doing the exact same thing in an XJR. There is a Jaguar breaker in San Fernando Valley in LA. They will sell complete SC engines

Jeff, contact Jaguar Heaven (CA), Euro Chop Shop (CA), or Coventry West (GA.).

From previous post your be better off with a 4.0 there's more than swapping engines, You'll have to swap ECM, and wiring harnesses, And I don't know about the transmissions yours both have the Merc. 5 speed and the later models have the ZF 6 speed. XKR Racer can set you straight.
Good Luck

Be very specific when you buy an engine, a lot of breakers will remove all the accessories including the super charger, alternator, starter, anything that will generate more income.
If you do find one ask for photos of what you are buying, and make sure that the wires are cut leaving the plugs intact on the engine. Remember buyer beware.
I think the best way is look at the for sale items in the forum and find someone breaking a complete car.

I have to assume those are used and from wrecked cars. Would you risk one of those vs. spending less and just rebuilding your own engine?

Without looking, I'll bet that question has only been asked a few hundred times - lol

Not necessarily. There are threads here covering the swap detailing the finer points from beginning to end. Besides, it is likely that Avos will be guiding Jeff.

For me I want both engines 1 on a stand so I can take my time and build a worthy engine, I'll be talking to Avos at some point, and the one in the car so I can drive it while working on the replacement. (money is really not the issue horsepower is !)

Irrespective of whether you have one in the car or not, you'll find that a long block swap is possible without changing any of the modules. Some minor parts need to be clearanced and some minor parts need to be retained. But it is otherwise about the same as going from a 350 CID to 400 CID small block.

hi Plums, I've read the swap threads and have access to 3D CAD design and a CNC machineshop, so I want to see if I can engineer better ways of doing things, like relocate the Alternator, better porting options for the intake and intercoolers etc, and with a motor on a stand it's a lot easier.

Default I bit the bullet...

I went ahead and bought this motor:

I bought it off of eBay for $4900 which is more than I wanted to pay, but it only has 42,000 miles and is a 4.2 liter from a 2003 XKR. Good compression, running nicely (they say). The auto business that sold it has an excellent long term eBay rating with a return policy. It will be here in about a week or so.

I decided to not rebuild my 4.0 so that I could take advantage of the newer motor features and extra power. Wish me luck!

Best of luck to you, Jeff. I have no idea what the shipping charges might be for something so heavy and bulky, but I bet they're not cheap.

Keep us posted!

Well bought Jeff, would it be OK to visit you when you are working on the motor?

Default Motor shipping and visit

The motor work will be done at Falconworks Jag tech in Tucson. They probably won't mind an enthusiast stopping by to look at the happenings.

The shipping is from Wisconsin to Tucson which only turned out to be $275. Not bad!
