Default M113 swap to early XKR

So, my AJ26s failed, and I am considering different options. Anyone tried to put M113 into our jag?

You could use the Valve Body/electronics from the Jaguar and it would likely be compatible with the Mercedes 722.6 fitted to the MB engine BUT.........

Getting the CAN bus to cooperate? with the MB engine?

good luck and keep us posted

Hi Vadim,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.

Your Jaguar ECM is by Denso. and it is interconnected with the Mechatronic/TCM, ABS system, Climate Control, the audio system, etc. The Mercedes-Benz M113 DME is by Bosch. As Bob alluded, getting the systems to play well together would likely be a nightmare. Why not just find a good salvaged AJ26? It would be a great opportunity to replace the upper tensioners, valley hoses and octopus hose, A-drum, etc. You could address the typical failure points and have one of the most reliable X100s on the road.

Cheers,

Don

I thought about 4.2. Anyone tried to swap 4.2 in 4.0 car?
I have found aj27, I think it’s a viable option in my case. Why exactly 4.2 is better than 4.0? I thought that the difference is only in the capacity

But I’m thinking about M113 and ls1 because it is the third AJ26 that failed in this car

did you lose compression? only way to deal with garbage gasoline is to go with late aj27 block or later.

yes 4.2 has been done many times, easiest if your heads are salvageable. sc version has aluminum “forged” pistons
