message center lighting
As of yesterday, my message center on my 2000 XK8 has become extremely dim. If I put my face up to the steering wheel, I can cycle through the settings and watch them change, the amber and red lights come on when I start the car, the dash backlighting can be controlled by the dimmer but the message center display is not affected. Is this repairable without changing out the instrument pack? Need to be a be to see any alerts/warnings so forum guidance appreciated
Yes, the message center has a bulb you can change. May as well take the opportunity and change all of the bulbs in the instrument cluster. They are I think T10s or type 194 for the big bulbs, and T5s for the small ones. I think you'll need 4 of the T10/type 194 bulbs, and about 2 or 3 of the smaller T5s, if my memory serves right. If you choose to go with LED, do not use LEDs for the low beam and high beam indicator bulbs, those should halogen. Otherwise, they will be too bright and annoying at night. The rest can be LED if you prefer.
