Motor oil for 2000 XK8

Is havoline 10W-40 an ok oil to use in my 2000 XK8 ? I live in Atlanta, GA.

5-30 Mobile 1 is the most used and it takes 7 qts with filter.
Just a opinion from all I have read on the Forum

Choose the viscosity that best suits your climate as shown in the owners manual. If that's 10W40, so be it. Brand name and synthetic vs. standard type is whatever makes you happiest- the car couldn't care less.

My mechanic in San Diego says 10-30 unless your in the mountains then 5-30 He prefers semisynthetic as full synthetic has a tendency to burn if it overheats.

Ouch. I'd find a new mechanic if that's the type of advice he gives.
