Default New 2001 xk8 owner...

At 45,000 miles should the tensioners be at the top of my proactive maintenance list???

Thanks

The 4.2 uses the later steel tensioners. You therefore don't have the same concerns as owners of the earlier 4.0 litre models with plastic tensioners.

Because you're asking the question, do you have doubts about the previous maintenance?

Mine is also a 2001MY with the 4.0L engine. Unless the PO swapped motors, you have the 4.0 as well. So check the tensioners. (duly noted I need to take my own advice)

My bad ... Fat fingers during typing

But it sounds like it is worth putting at the top of my proactive maintenance. The previous owner did not do this.

Now I've corrected my sig (duh)

is there any recommendations for where to take it for the tensioners - the nearest to me is San Jose British Motors - though my gut feel is telling me that they might be at the high end of servicing costs

I'll wander over to the "western forum" to check there too
