Default NewtoXK8 - Grill, exhaust, cruise control and radio advice needed

Hello all,
Just like it says new to a 2005 XK8 coupe

So this is the new addition. Would like to do a couple of things right off. The mess style grill and exhaust or mufflers to get slightly more growl out of it. Any suggestions where to find stuff, who makes the grills and what exhaust makes sense to get would be appreciated.

My next to fix item is the cruise and limiter both flash "not available" on the dash. It does have an aftermarket radio we will be removing and replacing with a factory unit. Any advice there also appreciated. OR - do any of you have any of these things laying around you might want to sell.

After these items Wheels and tires "may" be next. undecided at this time.

Thank you ahead of time, any comments, advice or snide remarks welcomed.
Cheers, Mike

I wish I could help you. I have the Mina Gallery rear exhaust delete pipes. Unfortunately, I neglected to remove the hangers needed to reinstall.

I have "under axle" rear exhaust from Mina Gallery on my XKR and love it.
Why do you want to replace the aftermarket stereo with the original? I have done the opposite and got handsfree, bluetooth audio, much better sound and in my country; DAB radio.
Does it have adaptive cruise control?

Congrats on your "new" ride. Looks like a real beauty. Another happy Mina Gallery exhaust system owner here. Gives the car a nice growl especially when you put your foot into it. I also added the aluminum air intake tube from them. I believe they also sell some sort of mesh grill but I have a '97 coupe and never looked into it. They might be one stop shopping for you. For what it's worth I also replaced the 18" wheels with some 20s to give it a sportier look.

Thanks for the replies all.

I think it has adaptive cruise. I assume the limiter not available error is from it. The radio in this car is a ancient Kenwood unit with an adapter kit that sticks it out a couple of inches towards the shifter. I may be guessing the install might have something to do with the cruise not working. Just a thought.

Thanks again and will keep you all posted.
Cheers, Mike

Checked with Mina and they no longer make or sell the under Axle exhaust. My Audio shop guy is setting up a system for the car. Found out the previous owner butchered the electrical harness, removed the amps and the CD changer, and spice job has caused other things not to work. The antenna for example. He is putting all the pieces together. Good point well received, it will have blue tooth, handsfree etc. Might as well join this century LOL.

Cheers, Mike

Diving in, Thanks for all the replies and advice. I've started with the make it mine upgrades. Mina Gallery was like a one stop shop candy store and Chris was very helpful and knowledgeable to say the least. So the journey begins with some accent chrome, the Mesh Grille upper and lower, the free flow intake system, and the muffler delete kit with the tuned resonator tips. The lowering springs kit, mounts and Bilstein Shocks have already arrived or will soon. The car is getting the stereo butcher job of the previous owner corrected so the parts anxiously await installation. Merry Christmas to MEEE,. so my wife sarcastically says as the boxes arrive. Mocking me of course.

Cheers, Mike

Been installing and enjoying the car. Some pics to share. Rear suspension is last box to put in.

Cheers, Mike

I’m thinking of getting the exhaust delete kit but wonder about the sound and if you detect “droning” around 2000-3000 rpm or if you feel it is to loud?

I do not have the drone some speak of. It is not loud IMHO. You have to stomp on it to get the growl but I only eliminated the mufflers post the center one. Sounds perfect to me. Mina no longer makes the over the axle kit. I ran the car without mufflers or the rear pipes installed and was surprised how quiet it was. I would say try that and see. The pipes come out easy. Drop the mufflers and go drive the car, it will give you a good feel before you spend money. If you like the sound order them and the mufflers are already out.
Just a thought,

Cheers, Mike

Mike, that looks great. The grill looks nice and the exhaust tips look really good on the car. Well done. Have you noticed any improvement in performance?

Yes, seat of the pants notice. The throttle response and bite have improved. It breaths better and I can physically feel a difference. I might imagine a 20HP increase but no data to support.
I love the pedal feel difference.

Cheers, Mike
