Nikisil Liners--Care of

The general consensus seems to be that if you've got a Nikasil-lined engine that's in good shape now, then you've got a superior engine that is preferable to a traditional steel cylinder engine.
The original problem had to do with high levels of sulfur in gasoline, which has now been outlawed for nearly a decade, I believe. Most believe that the Nikasil engines with real problems are now dead. So if yours is healthy, then enjoy and don't worry about it. You'll have plenty of other little projects to address on your car.

Just make sure not to make short little trips and use decent gas and it should give you an excellent service life.

I agree with "The Coupe" You don't have to worry, one thing I do is buy the same fuel and I'm a stickler about it. Shell 93 Octane. I have a friend who worked for BP and he told me that the formulas for fuel was consistent among the national brands. He was the foreman at a distribution center. All gas regular, premium, etc come in on the same pipeline. The additives are added as the tankers are being filled. The national brands have set formulas, where as your local convenience store's manager will tell the distributor what to add. So you really may not be getting the best blend. Just throwing my 2 Cents worth in.

Actually, if your Nikasil liners are good, you're better off with them.
