Default noise in fuel tank - XK8

I replaced the fuel pump on my 2001 XK8 and now i have a rattling noise coming from inside the tank. If you unplug the pump relay when ideling, the noise stops instantly. (the engine will run for a few seconds after relay is removed) There was a small 2" square plastic with holes in it under the pump screen filter. It may have been knocked out of place. Has anyone seen this problem?

Firstly, welcome.

I am not familiar with the XK8 layout, but most cars with "in tank" pumps can be noisy from little things like that getting disturbed when pump replacement takes place.

Going back in is the only way.
