And Happy Motoring to you as well. Your welding and patching skills are second to none. Sure hope you have to do much less of that on your new Porsche....
I did, but feel that Jag has divorced itself from it's heritage, whereas Porsche embrace it, that clinched the deal.
never forget the heritage of the Porsche is the widow-maker.
My dear older brother lost his life in the 930 Turbo 3.3L . He had Porsche specific driving skills reaching back three decades. And was a participant in numerous SCCA races., an amateur driver to be sure, but a skilled amateur who knew those cars very well.
i won’t go into the gruesome details, but the crash was a low speed affair and
no fault of the driver. Nevertheless , these cars are built with lightness and speed and cannot take overhead impacts. Being lower than most other vehicles, overhead impacts are not unlikely.
enjoy your car. And never forget you have a wild animal under you that just has a facade of civility.
RD, thank you for all the project direction you have given this Forum.
We will always have your references to go by.
Have fun and I do love the car you choose.

The Jaguar F-Type is a modern E-Type. I went from an XKR to an F-Type and to me its my favorite car of all time its so much fun and exciting. Porsche variants are everywhere you go to a Car & Coffee meet there's about 50+ there you dont stand out. With Jag you stand out amongst the crowd. When I had my XKR even Porsche drivers would get upset with the amount of attention people were giving my Jag. But as car enthusiast you like what you like enjoy your Porsche.

I know what you mean, the XK8 is still a real head turner. My other head turner is still my 450SL. The Porsche will be the driving car as opposed to the poser.

I wish Mercedes still made cars as good looking as this.
To close this off, I ended up trying Carwow and Motorway to sell the car but perhaps unsurprisingly there were zero bids. I guess dealers are not interested in old high mileage cars that could easily come back to bite them.
Instead I put it on Gumtree and was surprised at the level of interest 6 contacts with 24 hours and sold soon after for £3700.
I think someone has got a bit of a bargain there for an XK8 which has had every bit of rust surgically removed. When I owned a Porsche back in the 90s, every annual service seemed to cost £1000, which makes the XK8 even more of a bargain.
