Default Passenger Airbag disable

I wish to use a child seat in the front passenger seat of my 1996 XK8 (RHD) in order to transport my 2 year old grandson. His parents will only let me do this if I can disable the passenger side airbag. Is this possible?

The passenger airbag cannot be disabled in your 1996 UK specification XK8. Note the warning in the Driver's Handbook:

Thanks for the info. Motorcarman; I’m told disabling passenger air bag is illegal in the good old UK.

That is why the TSBs are usually geographically issued. Not all apply everywhere.

It is on your UK specification model, although later UK specification models like my XK offer the facility to switch off the passenger airbag from the console.

If this https://childcarseats.org.uk/carryin...seat-belt-laws
is correct it doesn't seem too onerous.
