Passenger door thinks its open
Hi everyone, I picked up my first jag last week (2003 XKR convertible) and had the issue with the window not coming up after the door closed and no indication when the door was open or closed and lower door curb light did not come on. Looked at lots of posts and ordered the Mouser D2SW-3L3MS which arrived and then installed as per posted instructions.
Black wire to black of the old switch and red to the old green. Put everything back together and could here the switch click as I manually operated the door latch to simulate a closed position. Now once I powered the battery back up and tested the door, I found when the door is closed I have a door open alarm showing on the dash interior light comes on and curb light is on. Crap I thought, must have a switch with wrong wires connected to the normally open/ closed configuration. So I take it all apart again and switch the red wire for the blue. After testing I'm back where I started. No sign of door open or closed on the dash. No curb light and window activity. So take it apart for the third time put the red wire back to the old green. Back to the same problem as I had the first time. Did a hard reset. Made no difference. O what am I doing wrong. By the way passenger side working fine.

I am hoping someone can shed some light on the problem I just started having with my '98 XK8 Convertible. My remote was becoming erratic, and since my battery was 6 years old I figured this was the problem and replaced it. Now I am getting a beep when I insert the key into the ignition and when I remotely lock the car it unlocks itself after a few seconds and leaves one of the overhead lights on forever . I have found that if I use the key to lock the car it will turn off the lights and sometimes the system will not unlock the doors (but sometimes it does) . The alarm system has not gone off thank goodness. Windows operate as they should and do not keep going down as others have reported.
Two questions:
So if this is a door micro switch problem -which door? It looks like the passenger side door will attempt to lock while the driver door does not, which then make the system unlock the passenger door.
What would make the remote function sometimes but others? I have replace the batteries last week.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Just a follow up on my issue. I discovered that one of my Fobs, that I have not used in a long time is apparently broadcasting all by itself and causing the security system to act weird. This was after replacing the batteries in it. The car would do the lock /unlock action whenever I got close to the car with the Fob. Went back to the old Fob, cleaned the PCB contacts ad now all it well again.
