Default Performance chips

Anyone with experience with performance chips for their vehicles. Gforce is advertising some interesting numbers.

These G-Force "chips" are actually just a resistor that fools the ECM into thinking the air inlet temperature is cooler than it is. If anything, you MAY gain five horses and destroy your engine in the process. Many, many people on this forum have looked for a REAL chip and have had zero luck. Very, very few ECM tuners are capable of doing anything Jaguar also.

I've never seen any real dyno data on any chips for these Jaguars. Has anyone seen real data that proves any HP increases besides the manufacturer?

Gforce is total BS.

If you want to get the most out of a normally aspirated XK8, find the threads on the forum on adjusting the throttle cable for maximum power.

Then make sure you have a clean air filter, clean spark plugs and fresh oil and properly inflated tires. Then run a can of BG-44K through the fuel system.

Most people with the XK8 say the best, easiest, cheapest and most cost-effective way to increase the performance is to sell the XK8 and buy an XKR. Seriously.

+1 on all the above - useless chip, just sell and get XKR

I have been around here for 6 years. Never seen anything magical to make these cars faster. Always read that these cars, the computer is so tightly tuned/setup that even changing out the air filter to some type of cold air intake is not suggested.
