Default Plug Coils

Having a random misfire on 5. Need new plug coil but prices are all over the map. Can anyone recommend a brand of coil that is good? Have seen prices from $25 to $150 ea!

I would stick with Denso if you can find them.

There are several sad story posts regarding the use of cheap(skate) coils and other critical electrical parts.

I GIANT thumbs up to everything denso so far, ever, in my cars experience... At the same time money matters. So, for what it's worth...

I've gotten ignition parts for my XJS from these guys,,, actually ended up talking to the owner of the company for some issues to do with a mismatch in what they were selling and what the XJS asked for... The guy was great about it.

Bought original equipment from Jaguar Victoria. There were 2 to choose from and I picked the one resembling the ones from my 4.0 S Type. Part # AJ810445 for my sn 36813. Anybody know if I guessed right? Dealer not overly helpful. They only want to sell new F Types.

I bought delphis for my 97 xk8 on rock auto for around $50 each. The main difference with the coils is that the earlier cars used coils with 2 pins and after vin 031302 they switched to a 4 pin connector.

One coil they showed me was in a Denso package. The one I bought was Jaguar original equipment. Closer inspection without opening the package saw “FoMoCo” stamped on the unit.

I guessed wrong. The coil I need is like the one pictured in post above. Back to Victoria to trade in the morning. At $170, need to find better option for when I do them all!

The proper Denso was $230 from Jag. Car runs perfectly but there has to be a better option/source? If I were to do all 8, that is $2k hit!!!
