Problem with Hawk HPS pads
I bought some HAWK HPS pads for my standard 2001 XK8.
When trying to fit them I ran into a problem. I pushed the main pad into its position atop the piston, and fitted the other side and the pushed the caliber around the rotor. I could not get the guide pins to install. I could not push the caliper body far enough into position.
Looking at the HAWK pads the circlip on the back of the pads which hold the pad into the piston are incorrectly placed. It is about 1/8" off from where it should be. It is 1/8" nearer the round notched edge thereby pushing the pad 1/8" away from caliper body and thereby not permitting the guide pin installation.
Still waiting for HAWK to get back to me.

Hi there, Stevepaa.
I am not going to really help you with your issue except the fact that I purchased the Hawk Performance HPS Brake Pads HB135F.770 pads for my front application, and never got them fit properly. They are simply too wide for the stock caliper
. What makes this problem even worse is the fact that my rotors were much thinner than their original condition and the pads were still about 1/16" or more thicker.
I am actually selling them on eBay as we speak. Chose Posiquiet Ceramic and could not be happier.
Here are some

Hope you'll make it work unlike me. Even local mechanic said to drop the performance fever this time
Good Luck, mate!

HAWK provided feedback that I am disappointed in. They buy the backing plates with the clips installed and then add their composition material. I suggested that measurements be made to confirm the clips are positioned correctly. HAWK response was since these pads fit several other cars with no issues, they have decided that listing these pads for use on my XK8 was in error.
The pads fit my 2000 XK8 but not my 2001 XK8.
So I called PFC. They confirmed that they have the same issue. Their pads fit 97-2000 but not 2001 on.
But Jaguar does not show any change in pads or caliper for the 2001 from 2000.
As I was looking for other pads I noticed that Amazon still says that Danny's thick pads should fit. Amazon also says the HAWK pads I have should fit my car.
Anyone use akebono on 2001 xk8 and have a part number?

Steve,
The Akebono part # I have is ... AK5 EUR394A. Front pads.
This is from something like five years ago though, so probably worth double-checking with the manufacturer.
Could not be happier with them, BTW. No dust!

P-rock and Dennis, have to throw my hat in with akebono, used them on all my cars and they're awesome and no dust. Disclaimer-I have not tested these under overly spirited conditions, but probably others have.
