Default Random ASC/Trac warning

Every so often I get these random warnings on the dash (ASC-Trac unavailable) but so far no codes show up. I still have p1000 while driving around waiting for the reset. As soon as I restart the engine the warnings go away. Any ideas would be appreciated....
Thanks in advance,
Alan

Power - probably the battery is failing - or possibly a dubious ground.

If it is, you may never get past P1000 to P1111.

Whatever you do don't try to clear either of those two!!

Grounds for a Jaguar are often troublesome. My vote would be bad battery. Get it load tested. If this warning is just appearing at first start up and then doesn't repeat after driving. It's battery. A bad battery will stop all monitors from being set.

If you are using a basic code reader you will not see codes related to the abs system and the P1000 probably won't change to P1111. If it isn't the battery you will probably have to get the codes read by a shop that has Jaguar specific software.

Thanks everyone, starting with the basics I will get the battery checked first. I was thinking my battery was fairly new as I remember getting it changed out under guarantee. I found the receipt and it turns it was 2014 and the car has been standing a lot in between runs. I hope it is that as it will be the least expensive and easiest fix.

Intermittend ABS/Trac warning lights are often an indication of a non perfect battery. Cars that are not often driven(like mine) have the issue. I used to change the battery every year to get rid off the anoying indication.
Lately I put it on a Ctek charger. When driving time is there the first few weeks the message shows but afterwards does not appear anymore the whole season.

battery test came back good after a long drive.
stomped the brake pedal fairly hard before a 120ml drive
no lights so far but the p1000 still hasn't reset to p1111
will drive back Friday and hope for a reset.
then will check the archives for reasons p1000 doesn't change to p1111

Alanroberts50, I think this is a important point. I've seen my share of ASC/TRAC ABS messages. Typically from dirty wheel speed sensors, but can be from bad wire connection or bad bearings too. In any of these cases ABS will fault.

I've never seen ASC/TRAC without the ABS too. The fact that you have tells me this is unrelated to ABS module solder, wheel speed sensor, or bad bearings messing up the alignment of the ABS ring and speed sensor. Imo, the ABS will light anytime there is an loss of info coming from any one wheel speed sensor for any reason.

I asked to help you narrow this down. This must be outside those areas then. Boy I would have thought low voltage too. Let me think more on this. They checked your alternator too right?

John

Didn't test the alternator because after the long drive the battery test came back "good" let me see what happens Friday after the drive back. That will be about 250 mls round trip. No warning.lights so far but no reset from 1000 yet either. Unfortunately won't be driving again till Friday. I have seen the range of driving tests listed that completes the tests necessary to get the code to go to p1111 but it's a bit tricky around the LA area but will see if i can complete those too.
