Default Request for Jag shop in Raleigh, NC area

Hi All,
The wife and I are on our 'round the USA road trip and are visitng friends in Sanford, NC. Yesterday the Jag (2000 XK8 conv't) started acting up, giving me a restricted performance message for short periods, then the last one gave me a check engine light, too. I'm going to go get the codes read and see what it throws and go from there. Just in case I have to have it worked on, I would like a recommendation for a shop I can take it to, hopefully close by.

Thanks to all you tarheels and those who are not.

The closest dealership is Leith Jaguar in Cary, NC. Phone (800) 868-0320. They were insanely expensive for a number of years for both parts and labor, but they have since learned that they do not live in a vacuum and Jaguar owners have choices....

A well-respected independent shop is Flying Circus English Cars in Durham, NC. Phone (919) 596-4250. Should still be more reasonably-priced than Leith....

I would assume that Sanford, NC has an Advanced Auto Parts, an Autozone, or a Pep Boys. You should be able to get your standard OBDII codes read for free at any of those....

Good luck and safe travels....

"Reverend Sam" is near Raleigh...perhaps he'll have an idea. Perhaps you should send him a private message to make sure he sees your question.

Good luck.

Update on issue. The codes all revolved around misfires of plugs. I suspect it has to do with my replacing the valve cover gaskets before the start of the trip. The misfires stared after we were parked on a off camber downhill slope to the left and I suspect that oil has gotten into the plug tubes as the misfire codes are for the plugs that would be most affected. Tomorrow I will pull the plug cover and coils and have a look see. I torqued the valve cover bolts to spec, but didn't have time to recheck after a few heating/cooling cycles. So hopefully all will put right soon.

Again thanks for your input.

Well, I found very little oil in plug tubes, appears to be left over from before I changed out valve cover gaskets, so I must have done that right. I drove the car about 120 miles yesterday and no recurrance of restricted performace light, although I still have the check engine light, not sure if that will self reset. Hopefully it was just one of those things that Jags are prone to do once in a while and our trip will continue.
