Default Resonated Exhaust Tips ?

as soon as I finish my suspension work my next mod is the exhaust.

Going with a center muffler delete replaced by an H crossover.

Looking for new exhaust tips and have a question..

Looking at these..

2 Cherry Bomb Stainless Oval Resonated Rolled Tip 2 25" x 3 5" x 4 5" x 7" | eBay

From what I've been able to research the resonated tip give a deeper, mellower sound.

Does any body have any experience with the Resonated tips or advise?

With just the center delete I'm hoping for just a mellow rumble, worried the resonated tips would make it to quite.

I used to use tips like that back in the day (1970's) on domestic V8 cars and liked the sound they had when used with performance mufflers.

Can anyone confirm the stock exhaust takes a 2.25 pipe? Other wise I'll have to go out and cut my stock tips off to measure.

Default Tips

Been there, done that!
Your pipes (all XK8 and XKR's are 2") are actually about 2.07 diameter, heavy gauge 2" pipe. Depending on the manufacturer, you may have to stretch a 2" I.D. tip to fit. 2.25 bolt-ons will work.
I tried Cherry Bomb, Monza dual tips, Hedman Hot Tips and Borla, all resonated tips and couldn't hardly tell any difference in sound level although the Borla shifted the frequency down a little.
The XK8 sounds great with the front muffler replaced with an "H" and a little turbo or glasspak instead of the rear mufflers. You won't hear much difference if you keep the stack rears. DON'T eliminate the little square resonators in front of the axle, They kill the 1500 rpm drone,
I wish I could make my XKR sound decent though!

Does an exhaust tip with a resonator enhance the exhaust sound to make it not resonate as much and sound better, or does the resonator make the sound worse and resonate louder?
