Question Restricted Performance

The weather is finally allowing the car to leave the garage in Michigan. I had the secondary tensioners replaced two weeks ago and drove around for the first time yesterday. My check engine light came on with the restricted performance message. Took it in to my mechanic this morning, was running normal, but the code for an ignition coil issue came up on the scanner. I'm taking it back for more indepth research next week, but does anyone have some ideas to point us in the right direction?

This Diagram may help in identifying the coil that the trouble code is pointing to:

Thanks for the cylinder diagram. I post the results of my trip to the shop next week.

I've been having the same problem in my 99 XK8. I found the cylinder that kept coding. I switched that coil with another and the code followed it to the one I switched it with. I purchased a new coil and installed it. Now I think it might be a connection because it still codes once in a while but only at idle it clears and all lights go out after I start driving. Let me know what you come up with.....I would like to clear this issue up LOL Thanks

I thought the code told you which was bad. It did for me, I think. Replaced one coil and everything was fine.

Default Code

The code for my check engine light was P0355. Alldata says that is coil #5. It's running fine today, so I'm going to wait and see if the restricted performance/check engine comes on again. Then, change the coil and spark plug for that cylinder. At least its easy to get to in the left front.

Default OBD Codes

The P0355 code indicates ignition coil "E". I think I will go to the dealer tomorrow to get the Jaguar code to make sure that "E" means cylinder 5. The restricted performance warning came on again today, and it's missing.

Smile OBD Codes

I went to the dealer/******* this morning to verify the code for the coil issue. They agreed with my P0355 Coil "E" code that it's the cylinder #5 coil. So, I'll switch it out next week. I was worth the fee to make sure we do the right cylinder.
