Road Trip Tool Kit
Howdy Folks:
I'm trying the plan a road trip with my wife and space is tight. I have a little space between the spare and the removable trunk floor, some of which, I would like to pack some road trip tools. What would you recommend to be the necessary tools. (I have all the standard tire change tools)
Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm envious. My road trip won't be until after Labour Day. I have a soft cloth bag with a few standard metric wrenches, a metric ajustable (;-), hundred mile per hour tape, tie-wraps, a good flashlight, some mechanic's wire, a set of pliers, and an old Leatherman. Oh, and a Platinum Amex. You know, just in case. Have a good trip!

Good for you. I too am heading off May 9th to Southern Texas, about the only place on the damn continent that is warm enough to put the top down. (What ever happened to global warming?????)
Anyways, in answer to your question, I carry the following:
Code reader
Very small binder with codes, web addresses and the like
Can of sensor cleaner
Small metric socket set
Small but complete changeable head screw driver set
Plyers
Spare fuse of each size
Paper towels
Microfibre cloths for drying after wash
Squirt bottle of quick detailer
That has taken me through three major road trips so far
Have a nice and safe trip.

I concur with Gus and Rjag about the code reader. I bought a tool kit from Pep Boys before my two week expedition last summer. Good thing I had it, too. I had to use it a couple of times. It was in a plastic case which was only about 2.5 inches thick. I didn't put it under the spare tire cover, but it would have easily fit there.
