Roof (Hood) 2005 xk8
I do not know what year car you have but if you pulled the entire pump out of the car I would guess you removed the 2 plugs on top of the pump on the 2 solenoids . If you did you might have reversed the plugs. One is for the latch operation and the other is for the roof lift operation. I would also suggest that you do a hard reset with the roof fully closed or fully open and then give it a try. The other is if you had a hard time removing the connectors you might have broken the connectors and that is not a good thing.

Hi,
I gave up and so took it to a jag dealership.
it turns out that the roof was out of alignment, hence wasn’t registering the sensors etc.
Anyway, that was the least if my problems.
Picked up the car after the roof was fixed I thought I’ll test out roof.
The windows went down, as the latch was about to disengage green fluid starts pouring out from overhead...damn. #*^#\#* A blown fluid line.
That’s another $1600 fix as quoted.
ive already read that it is a hell of a job.
feeling very unlucky and depressed now.

shaguar8,
As with all things on old Jags, you fix one problem and another reveals itself.
Sorry about the green shower but it’s DIY able. Parts aren’t that expensive but it’s labour intensive so hence the big garage fees. Frankc has the definitive home DIY fix on his epic blog.
Not sure how good you are at strip downs but the interior of the XK8 comes apart easy - pretty straightforward and no special tools needed. If you’re doing this job, it’s worth checking/replacing all the hydraulic hoses. I’ve been there/done that.
Cheer up, there far more important problems in the world right now.

Thanks David,
True that. It is what it is. I did buy an old car.
worst things can happen in life.
I’m better at fixing circuits, thus far I’ve fixed the motor and seat module circuit board.
I’ll pay for the labour cost to get the hoses done so it’ll be done properly.
Apart from that, the car is a rocket. Drives like a dream. My first Jag. Absolutely love it!

It may also be informative if you read the previous pages to that "what I did" so you can see the work in progress. I started the thread here, and did hit a few snags along the way. Click here to read from the start
Let me know how you get on wont you? Any problems just ask on that forum. Thanks!
