Haven't made any progress with mine yet - a lot going on as we're in the process of trying to move house !!
But - some useful information there so thanks for that. I will certainly disable the 7-beep warning stuff - I haven't fully investigated the dealer options menu so was not aware that could be done.

I'm new to this party & commiserations to those having problems but I thought I'd share one major learning I had running sdd on my XJR(X350); I know different vehicle . After many frustrating sdd sessions where I could read modules, change some things, but I couldn't program a key - it said communication failure I found out the obd port has two B+ power sources and one of mine had the fuse blown . Well once that was replaced sdd would do all of what it was doing before and now much more like programming a key. So check the terminals on your obd port and verify you are getting the correct voltages and resistance drops specified in the manual and electrical circuit diagrams. Hope that may be of use.

Progress report - or lack of …………….. !!
Spent this weekend disconnecting, cleaning, and re-connecting every plug/socket on the SCP network except the big connector on the BCM behind the glove-box but no change - still "communications fault" with the SLCM.
I also tried to disable the "key barrel arming" (7 seconds of beeps then alarm) mode but it isn't an option on my early car - just says "enabled" with no option to "disable".
Also checked fuses and voltages on the DLC and no problems there.
So - will persevere - will get there eventually and it's an inconvenience rather than a major issue. Did a long "house-hunting" trip on Friday - around 300 miles or so - and the car behaved perfectly. I just couldn't lock/unlock with the remote fob !!

David, I've just seen this post in a different thread. While fixing a different problem, he also fixed his non-working remotes by changing the ECU.
I think you have changed/checked everything else, but I don't think you have tried an ECU swap.
~I finally got my jaguar back from the specialist and the car is working fine. The main diagnosis was one of the new coil packs I fitted was faulty and was replaced with a second hand tested one. Discussions with the mechanic revealed that my replacement coil packs were unbranded, and despite some good sounding warranties on them they do not last very long (I dont think mine ever worked!). I dont know this to be a fact, but it was his opinion. The original Denso ones are pricey and the mid range Lucas ones are the best ones to replace OEM parts with or a fully tested original second hand part. I had no feedback on any further testing of the earths in the ignition circuits as the replacement coil pack cured the fault.
Now this is where things get a bit grey. I had a spare ECU in the boot of the car and the mechanic fitted it to the car and programed the key to the security module just for completeness. Now the car works as well as it used too but suddenly all my remote controls for the car are suddenly working again. They stopped working 2 years ago, so i used to unlock the car and turn the key before the 30 seconds expired and the alarm went off. There is no chirp from the alarm as the doors are locked or unlocked and only the lights flash. I suspect the alarm is not working. No big deal there as the car is securely garaged and never left out overnight or for any time during the day.
My problem is thus; the faulty coil pack was a simple test and replace the coil pack. The replacement ECU cured a remote not working problem. I cannot be sure however, if replacing the ECU cured some other intermittent problems. The only way to find out is to put the old one back in and run the car for a while.
A lot of suggestions was to take the car to a main dealer. However the garage i found was a specialist Jaguar garage with experienced Jaguar mechanics. Main dealer prices are £160 per hour and these guys are £60 per hour for the same, if not better diagnostic equipment than a main dealer. They are Hollygrove Motors, St Ives, near Ringwood in Hampshire.

Dibbit.
Thanks for the copy of that post.
Correct - I haven't changed the ECU and, maybe as significantly, I haven't changed the Body Control Module either which also has links to the SCP network.
I'm totally tied up with a house move over the next few weeks, but once that's all calmed down, and I can get back to more important stuff, I will have another look at the car !
Cheers,
David.

I decided to purchase a used security module from Ebay from a Jag dismantler. He assured me that it was working perfectly. I fitted the replacement module...which was the same part number (LJE2600BC) as the original.
Before doing anything else...I hooked up my laptop with the Jaguar SSD software...and guess what....it still came up with the same messages..."Communications failure with module" and "perform Network Integrity Test". Needless to say, I was disappointed. I tried and re-tried several times...but still the same result. I assumed that either this module was also a dud, or the the fault lay elsewhere.
I was about to give up...when I had the thought to use the basic fob programming method...with the key in the ignition and pulling the indicator stalk 4 times....and would you believe it..I saw the red light flashing next to the gear change in time with me pressing a button on the key fob! I took the key out of the ignition and hey presto!! The doors were locking and unlocking with the fob!!
I quickly retried the programming but with both my fobs (3 button presses on one...and 2 on the other...and now they BOTH work perfectly! Doors lock and unlock, the Boot opens..and the headlights come on with the appropriate buttons!
What a relief! So the answer all along has been a fault with my Security Locking Module....working for everything else but not able to accept key fob programming. I still have no idea why the SSD software won't communicate with it...and I don't really care!
My advice then is...either locate a replacement SLM or...take advantage of the offer on Ebay from Berkshire Jaguar to repair your existing one. They say that their repair sorts out the issue with Key Fob Programming. The price there was £318...but just this week they have an offer on whereby it is £248! A veritable Bargain! Find the listing here :-

Best of luck...you have no idea how nice it is to have the key fobs working properly!

Not sure if you still have the old module to see?
