Question should i change Transmission Fluid

hi guys, as you know, my xkr has 30k miles and 11years old. i can sure the engine works good, but i can't sure ex-owner has changed Transmission Fluid in past years.
i feel my xkr is very "lazy" even in S mode. until full throttle, it likes a normal sport car. sometimes it can't kick down when i need accelerate.
maybe is time to change ATF? please give me some advise

Thank you

I don't think it will do any harm to change it. But the lack of power makes me wonder if the throttle is opening all the way.

Did you also check the cable tension on the throttle? It is an easy adjustment, but if it is too slack the throttle doesn't open all the way. I looked at mine just after I bought it and the throttle only opened about 75%.

If you need it, there are several threads on this in the forum. It might even be in the DIY sticky.

Even though you have a low mileage, oil also degrades over time, I would certainly change the oil if you want this to be a keeper. The sluggishness isn't from the oil, most likely the throttle cable as Jag#4 suggested, its at least a cheap 1st check.

riem, you are missing the point of the discussion. You need to have someone push the throttle pedal to the floor (engine off), and look at the butterfly to see if it is fully open.
At the least, with the pedal depressed all the way, see if there is additional movement possible in the arm that actuates the butterfly valve.

Hi.

To me it looks that you have too much slack in the throttle cable.
With the throttle at idle, the moving part should barely touch the end stop and the cable should be fairly tight.
With full throttle the air intake flap should be vertical ( 90 degrees ).
Newer model years got a different system.
More info in "sticky" section.

If you have an OBDII reader you can also monitor the throttle percentage...this is the most definitive test for the correct adjustment.

Yes you can use the latest spec 236.14 from Mercedes, you can pick anyone from the list attached (I use Mobil ATF 134):
MB 236.14 - Automatic transmission fluids (ATF, Specification 236.14) - Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Operating Fluids

Important is to measure the oil with the right dipstick, engine running, and with the oil at 80 degrees C. If you use an external infrared temp sensor you must measure it slightly lower as the oil pan will be about 10 degrees colder then the oil inside.
